The St. Louis City Board of Aldermen and the St. Louis County Council have legislative oversight of the roughly 1.2 million lives in the core of our metropolitan region. Always a difficult process, legislating local laws has recently seemed more fraught than usual. The County Council is embroiled in a stand-off over leadership selection. The City BOA is reopening a variety of questions thought to be settled, including the idea of halving the number of Aldermen.
